I'm ready to get my first Powerball ticket -- NOT!
by FatFreek 2005 init's up to some 800 zillion dollars now and hasn't suckered me in yet.
i've been out of watchtower for some 38 years now and i suppose the lottery is one of their nonoze.
i have nothing morally wrong against it or anyone who enjoys doing it.

Every time a Powerball ticket is bought, a massive 50% goes towards prizes (20% into the jackpot pool, the other 30% towards other prizes). The remaining 50% goes to the state where the ticket was bought to cover operating costs, retailer costs and of course good causes.

"Apostates " how honest are we?
by closed inas i mentioned in another post i used to serve as an elder for 2 decades.
i was involved in a number of jc.
some i dealt with are good friends now.

The funny thing about your opening post, Closed, is that you give the impression that YOU (as a JW elder) WERE ENTITLED to be treated "truthfully".
Whatever gave you that idea?
Are you not familiar with the doctrine of "Theocratic Warfare"? Some people are NOT ENTITLED to "The Trooth," you know.
As an elder, you were a yes-man for, and an official of, an Organization founded by a liar and perpetuated for the benefit of liars.
...and despite you claim to be leaving the WTB&TS (BEHOLD! A Divine Mystery! In, yet not in!), you seem to remain fixated on how you are supposed to be treated.
Get an enema, you're still full of shit, it seems.

What is your relationship with ALCOHOL?
by nicolaou inhere in the uk new drinking guidelines have been issued which suggest "no more than 14 units a week - equivalent to six pints of beer or seven glasses of wine.".
another piece of the advice which is getting a lot of attention is that "if people drink, it should be moderately over three or more days and that some days should be alcohol-free.".
already people are making cries of "nanny state!

I seldom drink. I've never been drunk.
Maybe THAT'S why I'm such a bastard.
I'm thinking of trying auto-trepanation, I've got a Bosch 1/2 hp hammer drill.

Putting your money into lottery tickets is foolish IFF* you are subsisting on a paycheck-to-paycheck or welfare payment-to-welfare-payment basis, but if you're in a better situation and the base of your hierarchy-of-needs is covered AND the money you're spending is your own**, what's the harm of taking a chance on winning HALF A BILLION DOLLARS?
Yes, the odds that YOU will win if you buy a ticket may be miniscule, but if you do not buy a ticket, the certainty that YOU WILL NOT WIN is 100%.
* It's in the dictionary, look it up. If you don't own a dictionary, call me "rood" or "harch".
** I realize that these conditions rule out half the people on this forum, but I'm talking to the other half.

MOST COs would benefit immensely from a swift kick in the balls, I'm glad Sister NothingLeftToLose had the courage to put that goofball in his place.

What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?
by minimus inwhen i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

I was told by Bethelite Mike Smilnak in the early 1970s that my sideburns were 1/8" (3mm) too long.
Maybe in his own way, he was trying to show me what utter bullshit the Watchtower was. Probably not though.

"Defending the Good News" by J. J. Henderson
by Uncharted inthis book was published in 2010:.
defending the good news: the jehovahs witnesses plan to expand the first amendment.
it is partially based on an interview with an ex-jw, jerry bergman, and, besides other things, contains information on h. c. covington and his supreme court cases.

The actions of the WTB&TS paved the way for the Islamic exploitation of the constitution that is ongoing today.
The WTB&TS was never interested in protecting and defending the Constitution of the US, but were intent on moving to establish an environment for their THEOCRACY.
THEOCRACIES are at their heart. all the same: a small group of fanatic maniacs who wish to impose their views on everyone else.
Thanks for nothing, Watchtower!

Is it RACIST that Bill Cosby is being pursued while BILL CLINTON gets a pass?
If not, why not?
Clinton’s accusers include: Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, Eileen Wellstone, Carolyn Moffet, Elizabeth Ward Gracen, Becky Brown, Helen Dowdy and Cristy Zercher, nine women.
